Conservation and listed buildings

Throughout CNM’s history we have undertaken a variety of projects to listed and historic buildings. This experience ranges from small scale repairs and refurbishment to the complete rebuilding of dilapidated properties, within tight, inner city terraces and large, country estates. 

Our team can display an expertise in the specialist requirements, legislation and appropriate construction methods required for working within listed buildings and bring with them the benefit of years of experience to each project. In all listed and historic projects, we take great care in working to preserve and restore desirable features with close liaison with English Heritage and other authorities as experience under archaeological watching briefs. 

Sensitivity is paramount in any work, no matter the size or scale, but particularly with Listed work. Close management and careful selection of all specialist subcontractors is vital in making the project a seamless process from start to finish whilst achieving the highest level of quality required in line with the consent provided.

Housing

With decades of experience CNM are experts in the housing sector. We are equally adept at new build or refurbishment and work with RP’s, local authorities and private developers on a variety of projects including all forms of tenure, mixed-use developments and estate regeneration in both rural and inner-city locations.

We have dedicated staff members with in-depth knowledge and experience of the government drivers and benchmarks including meeting the criteria for The Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH), Design and Quality Standards and able to identify funding streams from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Our development services include: undertaking site appraisals; providing architectural advice in preparing and reviewing proposed site layouts; securing planning consent; funding advice; acquiring sites; identifying key RP’s to develop the site for construction; and risk management.

Harnessing good working relationships and customer care are core values of our business – on our construction projects we work with clients to meet their specifications and the needs of the individual. Whether working in occupied properties or infill sites we provide a tenant or neighbor liaison service to communicate our plans and work

Health Care

CNM has been delivering quality construction services to the health sector for several years. Through establishing specialist teams within the business, we have built an extensive knowledge base of health care construction know-how, proven methods of delivery and reliable results.

Part of this has been acknowledging that early collaboration is vital and that integrating early with key members of the health sector project team, the health care staff and clients will result in project success. 

With a talented Team who fully understands the needs of health care clients and the need for flexibility, CNM successfully completed the project on CARE fertility clinic in Manchester 

Residential

Private residential projects often demand the highest specification construction methods and materials across all building sectors

Our experience encompasses a great number of projects ranging from the construction of houses and extensions, reconstruction and refurbishment of listed buildings.

Education

Our education experience in refurbishment and extension projects ranging in value up to £7m. We have used our specialist skills and knowledge to supply both public and private clients alike with high quality, innovative, sustainable and cost-effective buildings conducive to learning and suitable for the modern pupil.

Our technical capacity is demonstrated, and has certainly been strengthened, through our eclectic portfolio of projects which spans the royal Northern college of music and Lancaster university. Features include external landscaping and libraries. Sustainability has been a key part of the design process to achieve requisite BREEAM ratings.

CNM has developed expertise in working within an occupied educational environment ensuring the safety of staff and pupils remains paramount with minimal disruption to their learning. We are flexible in our approach and listen to the needs of our end users.

Our commercial portfolio encompasses prestigious new build offices and work place refurbishments, mixed-use developments, retail outlets, warehouses and industrial spaces.

When working with commercial clients we are aware of tight deadlines and cost implications and we can incorporate these requirements through careful planning and programming without compromising on quality.

There is no blueprint for commercial buildings – one building is not like another, we work with exacting specifications to ensure that our clients gain a commercial space tailored specifically for their business aspirations and growth.
